MPP Daryl Kramp Happy With Shuffle, Prefers no Ministry for Himself

Daryl Kramp is looking forward to working with the new provincial cabinet.

Moose FM sat down with the Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP to discuss the recent cabinet shuffle. He says now real talent can come up to do a good job in the posts they are in. He says the shuffle brings the best and brightest out to help lead this government. Kramp was also pleased with the timing of the shuffle, and says now is the best time to do it. He says because of the summer break, it gives new ministers time to learn their portfolio and explore what their department in the ministry can do and should do.

On outgoing members, Kramp heaped praise on both incoming and outgoing ministers. On Vic’s removal from finance, Kramp said he is a better fit in the Ministry of Economic Development and Job Creation due to his background as a businessperson. On the new Finance Minister Rod Phillips, Kramp said he had a sound background and has performed exceptionally well in the past. He said that a new perspective on the economy was needed to aggressively deal with the deficit while maintaining services. He described the finances of the province as an economic basket-case.

On heading a ministry himself, Kramp has made it clear he would not prefer it. He says he would much prefer to focus on his own riding than the other 103 beyond his own. He says he instead wanted access to leaders of responsibility and power to better serve the riding. He did say if his expertise is needed he’ll consider it, but that was not on the table at this point.
