2nd Charity Drag Show a Hit in Bancroft

$3,872.13 was raised during the Curtis Sibley’s 2nd charity drag show.

“I’m really happy with how the event went,” he tells My Bancroft Now.

This year saw the addition of a free event for the kids held before the night time adult show. Sibley says he’s most proud with how that event went. He joked that a lot of the kids said they watch the show RuPaul’s Drag Race on T.V. so getting to experience a drag show up close and personal was “incredible” for them.

Sibley adds that the adult show went off without a hitch as well, which surprised him. “Hosting an event with that many people one always wonder what kind of crisis will come up,” he says.

“One of the performers asked the crowd who was returning and I would say a good 70 to 80 percent cheered and I was really shocked,” Sibley says. That’s because last year he spent so much time running around he wasn’t able to talk to many people. Sibley says this year was different because he the made point to go around and greet people throughout the night.

The funds will be handed over to North Hastings High School to go towards the $500 scholarship that’s been set-up for LGBTQ+ students.
