“High-End Factory-Built” Homes to be Made Backing Onto Golf Course

“From our analysis, there’s a really big need for smaller, maintenance-free homes,” explains developer John Puffer.

The two and three bedroom homes will be on 50 by 200 foot lots and back onto either the Bancroft Ridge Golf course or the Hastings Heritage Trail. They will be designed and built at building company General Coach Canada’s HQ in Hensall, Ontario before being shipped to Bancroft and put onto a concrete slab. They will be built in the northern part of the Golf course property, Puffer explains, between holes 12 and 13.

While there is still some work to do on the plan, Puffer says they hope to keep the price for the homes between $250,000 and $350,000.

The project is being dubbed “The Preserve” because of the over 100-acre nature preserve that will be open for residents to explore.

“It’s relatively low-maintenance for people so they can spend more time doing what they want,” Puffer explains. Residents will have access to the Golf course, along with over 1,000 feet of shoreline on the York River with private docks, canoes, kayaks, and paddleboard access. Puffer says a pickleball court is going to be in the area too along with a saltwater pool, hot tub, and sundeck.

“We’re working with the town and county and our planners and our engineers and consultants to put a plan together,” he says. The plan is to start building by Spring 2020.
