North Hastings Hospital Auxiliary Radiothon Starts Friday

For the 13th time, residents will come together to support the North Hastings Hospital during the auxiliary’s radiothon on Moose FM.

It will kick off at 7 AM on July 26th and continue until 6 PM that day. The radiothon will be back on the air at 8 AM the next day and end at 1 PM.

The theme this year is “every drop counts.” With that theme in mind, the auxiliary is raising money for a CBC Blood Analyzer and Level 1 Fluid Warmer for the hospital’s emergency room.

Chair of the Radiothon Debbie Speck explains that Quinte Healthcare puts together a wishlist every year with the items they have deemed vital for the hospital and hand it over to the North Hastings Fund Development Committee. They then pick out one or two items that they will fundraise for that year.

“Everyone comes together in the community to donate to the radiothon and support the hospital,” Speck says about why the radiothon is such an emotional, but rewarding time. She adds that she always likes hearing stories from people about how the hospital helped them in their time of need.

While the theme this year is “every drop counts” every penny counts as well. “We’ve had children come in with money they’ve collected from their area or that they’ve been saving,” Speck explains.

Whether it’s $1 or $1,000, every donation helps ensure that the hospital can give the best care possible to everyone that passes through its doors.

You can donate during the radiothon by calling Moose FM at 613-332-1423 or by dropping by 30674 Highway 28 East with your cheque or cash donation.
