North Hastings Children’s Services’ Youth Advisory Board and volunteers from the community will be painting the rainbow crosswalk on July 31st.
Bancroft council approved the first of possibly multiple rainbow crosswalks last month. The approved location will be in front of the post office on Station Street. Other locations – and a rainbow staircase – were pitched, but Mayor Paul Jenkins suggested during June’s Community Development Committee that they paint the first crosswalk and see how it goes before other ones are done up.
The plan is also to have a celebration of the crosswalk being finished next month as well, but a date has not been set for it yet.
Family Support and Intersections Coordinator Sarah Phoenix says they plan to meet at the Town’s municipal office before setting out to paint the crosswalk at 4:30 PM on the 31st.
