Community Trust Hopes to Bring Area Together With 2nd Annual “Ride For The Trust”

Motorcyclists will join together to support North Hastings Community Trust.

Program Coordinator Jane Kali explains seasonal residents Diane and Ben thought up the idea. “They chose us to raise some funds through the connections they have with people who ride motorcycles,” she says.

New this year will be the northern ride that will be on top of the southern ride that starts in Bowmanville. Local riders will meet at the SunRun Cafe in Maynooth at 9:30 AM on August 10th before setting out of their route. Slingshot riders from the south will set out on their journey that morning as well. “We’d love the two groups to meet and ride through town together,” Kali says.

The plan is for everyone to meet at Millenium Park by 1 PM. Kali adds that everyone is welcome to attend, even if you don’t have a motorcycle.

With over $7,000 raised last year for Community Trust, Kali hopes the community can come together to top that total this year. With Community Trust not getting any government funding outside of what they get from the United Way Hastings and Prince Edward and from Hastings County, Kali says they rely on the community to help them raise the money they need to run their events. “We’re a small area, but we’re so big in spirit and generosity and kindness and compassion and creativity and resilience,” she says.
