The 25th Terry Fox Run in Bancroft will be on September 15th. After raising a record-breaking $14,100.40, they hope to surpass that this year and add to the $250,000 that has been raised locally. Organizer Ron Speck says they will be continuing their environmentally friendly program. “We have a long-time Terry Foxer and he is buying a t-shirt for every participant in the Terry Fox Run that brings their own reusable water bottle,” Speck says. Last year 47 t-shirts were given away thanks to the initiative. Speck says t-shirts sales accounted for around $1,300 which tops the $200 to $300 t-shirts raised before the initiative was started for the 2018 run. Clive Emery with Trips and Trails Adventure Outfitting will once again be donating a prize to be raffled off. “Clive is keeping the prize a secret,” Speck says. In the past, a paddleboard, a kayak and a mountain bike have been donated. Every participant will be entered into the draw. The route will be the same as it was last year with both the five and 10 kilometre runs start at Millenium Park and follow the Heritage Trail and go up to the Golf Course. The five KM route ends there, but the 10 KM route continues down to Y Road. After that, they turn back and return to the Park. Kawartha Dairy in Bancroft will also be raising money starting August 26th until September 3rd. Speck says they raised over $1,800 last year. Bancroft’s Terry Fox Run goes from 9 AM until noon on September 15th, with registration opening at 8. You can get pledge forms online or at the Bancroft Fitness Centre, Trips and Trails or Vance Motors.
