Two Local Fire Departments Teamed up to Battle Fire on Jeffrey Lake

It’s unknown how the fire started, but Faraday Fire Department’s Fire Chief Brian Sears says he was called to battle the blaze around 4:15 PM Monday evening.

He tells My Bancroft Now that the family had left their home just after 3 PM. “They told me everything was off (when they left),” Sears says. By the time the fire department got to the scene, the house was fully engulfed. The Bancroft Fire Department was called in for back-up. Sears says they brought six firefighters and tanker trucks to help control the fire. Along with the 10 from Faraday’s Fire Department, they were able to put the fire out just after midnight.

While there are no reported injuries or damage to other homes, Sears says the family’s pet cat and bird died in the fire.

“I don’t suspect arson or foul play,” Sears says.
