A horse ride in honour of Anatstasia Kuzyk, Nathalie Warmerdam and Carol Culleton will occur on September 22nd.
The 90-minute ride will go along the old rail tracks towards Killaloe and along Wilno Pass. Organizer Linda Leonard says horses will be available for experienced riders, which she says are riders that should be able to catch and saddle their own horse.
She says all proceeds will go to Bernadette McCann House, a women’s shelter in Pembroke. Leonard says any amount of money will be appreciated.
Leonard says she has been doing the ride since the victims were murdered in 2015. Leonard said Anastasia Kuzyk was a consistent riding companion before her murder. Leonard says she thinks of Kuzyk on the day of the ride and says it is hard not to think of the other women who were murdered as well.
She says while turnout is often low, it does not matter to her. She says due to the recent announcement of an inquest into the murders, she feels there will be a bump in interest.
Registration will begin at Wilno Park at 12 PM. Leonard says registration for riders is 5 dollars.
