57 Charges Laid During Bancroft OPP’s Two October Campaigns

From October 2nd to the 11th the Bancroft OPP took part in the provincial police’s fall seatbelt campaign. They also joined in on “Operation Impact” that was held during Thanksgiving long weekend.

During that time, nine were nabbed for not wearing their seatbelt.

On top of that, 39 were caught for speeding, one for stunt driving, one for distracted driving and seven other charges were laid for different moving violations.

During “Operation Impact” officers were keeping an eye out on what they call the “Big 4” that are the main four factors in vehicle deaths. Distracted driving, aggressive driving like speeding or stunt driving, impaired driving and lack of occupant restraint are those factors.

“Motorists are reminded that even though the campaigns are over, the OPP is committed to road safety and officers will continue to stop vehicles and speak to drivers not obeying rules of the road,” the police say.
