Local Christmas shopping tour highlights the importance of shopping local

“There’s always a benefit to shopping local,” owner of Mack Attack Outdoors Emily MacKinnon says.

On December 6th, 20 businesses in downtown Bancroft will be open until 7 PM with all of them offering special deals that MacKinnon says may be better than what you will see for Black Friday.

AJ’s Shoes, Ashlie’s Book Store, Bancroft Brewing Co., Bancroft Dollar Plus, Fudge Factory & Emporium, Mack Attack Outdoors, McCaskie TV & Stereo, McMichael Jewellers, Necessities, Niffers Clothing, The Old Tin Shed, Pet Valu, Posies Flowers and Fashion, Shenanigans, Stedmans, Terra Sun Hair Design and Esthetics, Stone Kitchen, Vintage on Hastings, West Wind Gallery & Gifts, and Zihua Boutique are the participating stores.

MacKinnon stresses the importance of checking locally for what you need for the holidays or at any other time of the year. “It’s a free-for-all this year,” MacKinnon jokes. Whatever stores interest you, she encourages you to check out. “Even if you’re not looking, just pop by and say hi and maybe there’s something you’ll see that you like,” she says.

This is MacKinnon’s first year heading up the coordination of the event and hopes to have the support of the Town of Bancroft for next year’s shopping tour.
