North Hastings High School to be open to grade 7 and 8 students, high schoolers asked to stay home

Unless a deal is reached between the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation and the provincial government, high school teachers will be striking on Wednesday, December 4th.

Teachers have been holding “information pickets” this week as a way to educate the public on the proposed education cuts they’re fighting against.

In a Facebook post, North Hastings High School notes that grade seven and eight students will still be required to come to school on Wednesday. Communications Officer with Hastings-Prince Edward District School Board Kerry Donnell adds that elementary teachers and CUPE members will be at school on Wednesday.

“This could all change if progress is made at the negotiating table,” Donnell says.

She says an update on the situation will be sent out by the school board and its schools on Monday.
