Hastings Highlands appoints new CAO

Hastings Highlands’ current CAO Pat Pilgrim will be retiring in the new year, but they announced Thursday that David Stewart will step into the role in 2020.

Stewart currently serves as the municipality’s Treasurer and will continue in that role when he becomes CAO next year. He has worked for the municipality for the past five years.

This is a part of the municipality’s “succession planning.” Under that plan, Tanya Dickinson was hired to be the Deputy Treasurer in late November.

“David has proven to be a valuable asset for Hastings Highlands and council is thrilled to welcome him to his new role as Chief Administrative Officer/Treasurer,” Mayor Vic Bodnar says.

“(David) will be responsible to provide the necessary supports to council for its decision-making as per the Municipal Act, as well as the implementation of council’s decisions and directions, as well as administering, coordinating and managing the day to day operations including supervision of all financial activities of the municipality,” a press release sent out by the municipality reads.
