Another 54 people were issued automatic drivers’ licence suspensions after registering a warning through roadside screening.

Over 2,200 Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs were conducted between November 23rd and January 2nd.

64 checks were done by the Bancroft OPP on over 300 vehicles. The police report that no alcohol or drug-related charged were laid.

Acting Inspector Marc Hemmerick says it’s disturbing that so many drivers are choosing to put their own lives and the lives of everyone else on the road in danger. He noted whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, getting behind the wheel can have deadly consequences.

The OPP says RIDE programs are not just part of the festive season – they can happen anywhere, anytime. If you suspect someone is impaired, call 911.
