Hastings Highlands council hoping to help local charities and not-for-profits with grant

Hastings Highlands is offering to support local charities and not-for-profits with their Miscellaneous Grant.

“We’re aiming to support charitable organizations and not-for-profit community groups to provide new and improved programs., to enhance existing initiatives and events that benefit the residents of Hastings Highlands,” explains CAO and Treasurer for the municipality David Stewart.

The four-page application will have questions on what initiative or program you are looking for funding, how much you’re asking for, the history of the event and who is organizing it and if you have applied for financial assistance from other places. The application is available at the municipality’s office, or online.

“(Council) evaluates details of their application,” Stewart explains. He adds that anywhere from one group to 10 could be accepted. “It just depends on the eligibility of each group in council’s view,” he says.

Stewart says they want to increase awareness with the grant because they hope that more charities and not-for-profits apply and put on programs or initiatives that benefit the municipality.

Those interested have until February 28th to apply.
