With negotiations between the provincial government and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation at a stand-still, the union has added two more strike days that will affect the area.
Communications Manager with Hastings-Prince Edward District School Board Kerry Donnell says school will be cancelled for all elementary students on Monday, February 10th, and the following Tuesday.
Junior kindergarten to grade eight students with North Hastings High School, York River Public School, Hermon Public School, Bird’s Creek Public School, Coe Hill School, and Maynooth Public School are being asked by the school board to not go into school on those days.
That is on top of the province-wide strike happening Thursday with the same schools affected.
These strikes all hinge on a deal being reached with the provincial government. If one does happen Wednesday night, or before the strikes happening next week, then school is expected to be in session as normal.
