Planning underway for 2020 Rockhound Gemboree

Planning is underway for Bancroft’s Rockhound Gemboree, with the town announcing it will happen as it normally does during the first week of August.

“We’re in planning mode right now,” Planning and Development Coordinator for the 57th Gemboree Robin Tait tells the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom.

She explains she and her team are working to confirm the vendors that will be occupying the North Hastings Community Centre from July 30th to August 2nd. “We always want to keep it fresh and provide some added value,” Tait adds.

This year will be the first time the Town of Bancroft will work with Bancroft’s Chamber of Commerce on the event.”The Chamber Board of Directors is pleased with the direction that the Town will be taking with the Gemboree, and look forward to a close working relationship as plans progress,” the Chamber’s Board Chair Mike Daly said when this was announced last year. With the Town getting involved, it was explained that the Chamber will be able to better focus on its mandate of serving its members across fourteen municipalities and bring in vendors to the event that will add to its history.

“As part of its economic development strategic plan process over the last year, the Town has made a renewed commitment to growing the Mineral Capital of Canada brand and ensuring that the Rockhound Gemboree continues as a premier event for Bancroft and an internationally renowned gem and mineral show,” Mayor of Bancroft Paul Jenkins added.
