Hastings Highlands to hold firefighter games competition

The fire departments from Hastings Highlands, Faraday and Limerick will be going head-to-head in the municipality’s first of what they hope becomes an annual event.

Three teams from Hastings Highlands’ Fire Department, two from Faraday’s and one from Limerick will compete in a fire truck pull, water brigade race, hazardous materials awareness simulation, forestry pump operations, obstacle course and a tethered ball event. The team that’s able to do these events the quickest will be the winner and get a special trophy.

“The firefighter games will be a physically demanding event that will showcase the skills, equipment and expertise of our local fire departments,” the municipality says in a statement to the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom.

There will also be an obstacle course set-up for kids. “The kid’s firefighter games will be run simultaneously and will include simulated
forcible entry, bunker gear relay, a hose carry, rescue simulation and toboggan pull as well as a simulated firefighting event,” the statement explains. The youth team with the quickest time will be presented with a trophy.
