Starting March 24th, the North Hastings Community Cupboard will be open longer.
“We are steadily moving in the direction of being Bancroft’s Food Center as it has been a vision of our organization for many years now,” the food bank says in a statement. “We are closing in on getting the mortgage paid and that will open many doors for our community.”
The food bank will be open from 11 AM until 2 PM on Tuesdays, until 1 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays and from 4 PM until 7 on Thursdays. They will remain closed on Mondays.
“At this current moment we are visioning some basic modifications to the space to allow the expansion of our offerings through our volunteer-run Community Cupboard Cafe (soup kitchen) that will enable us to easily add cooking classes as funding is sourced,” the food bank adds.
Along with operating as a food bank and soup kitchen, North Hastings Community Cupboard is also a depot for Good Food Box deliveries, has community gardens on-site and will be continuing their concert series this summer.
