Public Health reports second person tests positive for COVID-19 at CFB Trenton

An individual was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, now Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health reports a second person has tested positive for the virus.

Public Health says this person was also on the board the Grand Princess cruise ship.

“All infection prevention and control protocols have been followed during the quarantine of the travellers,” the health unit says. “The affected individual has been in quarantine since arrival at CFB Trenton and will remain in isolation on base under the assessment of the Public Health Agency of Canada.”

The Canadian Red Cross continues to monitor individuals that touch down at the base during their 14-day quarantine.

“We are confident that all necessary infection control protocols have been followed during the repatriation process,” HPEPH’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Piotr O’Glaza says. “There is no need for concern about transmission to the public from anyone in quarantine at CFB Trenton”.

Public Health reminds residents to stay calm and continue with proper hygiene practices and remaining at home if they do not feel well. Updates will be posted on Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health’s website. A website has also been set-up by the provincial government to monitor the spread of COVID-19.
