Foodbank and Bancroft Community Transit teaming up to deliver to those in need

The North Hastings Community Cupboard and Bancroft Community Transit are teaming up to help deliver food to those in need.

Every Wednesday BCT will deliver food to seniors, single parents without childcare, disabled people, those who are quarantined or self-isolating, and people who aren’t able to get to the foodbank.

Communications with the foodbank Monica Piercy says they will go on as long as needed.

“We felt we needed to do more,” BCT’s Director of Operations Gwen Coish tells the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom. She says after reaching out to Piercy to see what could be done, things came together quickly.

Piercy explains the order will be done over the phone with volunteers on-hand to help make the hampers. A driver from BCT will pick that up on Wednesday and deliver it to where it needs to go. “They are also following safe protocols as far as cleanliness in their vehicles and how they are meeting people,” Piercy says.

She notes that this service is for the foodbank only, if you need help getting groceries delivered or anything else, the website Bancroft Help has been set-up for that.

You can call the foodbank at 343-476-0177, email them at [email protected] or message them on Facebook to place an order. You have to get your order in before 11 AM on Tuesday every week.
