Employee at Hastings Manor in Belleville tests positive for COVID-19

Staff at the Hastings Manor in Belleville were advised Tuesday afternoon that an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

“Manor officials immediately contacted Hastings Prince Edward Public Health of the situation,” Hastings County officials say in a statement.

“On March 30th, an employee who reported for work failed the active screening process and was sent home,” they say. “The employee at no time entered the Manor. The employee subsequently sought medical assistance, was tested and determined to be COVID-19 positive. At the direction of Public Health, the employee is now in self-isolation. Prior to the 30th the employee exhibited no symptoms and passed the screening protocol.”

Six employees have been identified as being close to the person who tested positive and will enter into 14 days of self-isolation.

“I want to make it clear that at this time no resident in Hastings Manor has tested positive for COVID-19 and we continue to monitor all of our residents in accordance with the protocols set out by the Ministry of Health,” Director of Long Term Care for Hastings County Debbie Rollins said.
