UPDATE: Eight more COVID-19 cases confirmed by Public Health, three due to community transmission

UPDATE, 4/02 @ 2 PM: Public Health has reported three more lab-confirmed cases bringing the total in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties to 16. Two are due to travel and one is because of community transmission.

Public Health confirms there are now 13 cases of COVID-19 in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

They have added five more cases in their latest update. Two are due to travel and one is because of close contact with an infected person. The other two lab-confirmed cases are from community transmission, which is the third COVID-19 case to be confirmed by Public Health for that reason.

There are also 20 more “probable” cases, bringing the total up to 254.

“A probable case is considered a person exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 who has travelled outside of Canada, has had close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19, or has had close contact with a person who has acute respiratory illness and has travelled outside of Canada within 14 days prior to the onset of illness,” Public Health says on their website.
