Supportive housing building opened in Belleville

Hastings County has announced that the supportive housing building dubbed “Home for Good” has opened in Belleville.

“The project funded by municipal, provincial and federal governments is the first supportive housing model established in Hastings County,” the County says in a statement. “The model brings together local community partners to provide housing with support services to 40 residents of Hastings County who are homeless and or at risk of becoming homeless.”

The began construction on the 40 unit building in September 2018. The County received a total of $6.2 million to help with the project from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to help offset the $8.3 million cost.

Hastings County Warden Rick Phillips says he is thankful to those that have helped get this project finished. “The collaboration in creating this model is a testament to the strong relationships Hastings County has developed with our joint partners and partner agencies,” he said. “Supportive housing will provide a stable and safe place for people to live while they receive the supports they need.”

An official opening date has not been announced.
