OFATV warns to avoid unnecessary travel on trails

While many are self-isolating due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some may decide to get out their four-wheeler to ride the trails in the area, but the Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs is cautioning people who do.

“Some trails are open for passive recreation,” OFATV says in a statement on Facebook. “Stick to trails local to your area to avoid unnecessary travel, only go with members of your household and maintain physical distancing at all times.”

They note on Facebook that while the provincial government has closed their properties due to the emergency order they issued being extended until May 6th, but that does not cover ATV trails. OFATV explains the trails are controlled by the municipalities.

To stay up-to-date on what trails are opened and which are closed, check the OFATV’s interactive map.

OFATV says they’re continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
