39th lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 reported by Public Health

Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health has added one more lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 to the total they’re reporting on their website.

While there have been 39 lab-confirmed cases, Public Health reports 21 people have gone on to recover. Two have died from COVID-19. Public Health says between five to nine of the confirmed cases are in North Hastings.

There are also 212 probable cases of the virus between Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. Public Health defines a probable case as someone who has come into contact with a confirmed or probable case or left the country in the last 14 days.

As of Tuesday morning, 2,113 tests have been done with 1,828 coming back negative. That means the rate of positivity is just over two percent. At the beginning of April, the positivity rate was just around six-percent but has been dropping as the month progresses. There are a further 246 cases pending.
