Rockhounds resign two more players for next season

Two players that were on the Bancroft Rockhounds during their inaugural season will be back for their second.

Defenseman David Orlando and goaltender Addison Zeich will be back with the team are signing new deals.

Zeich played in 10 games for the Rockhounds last year going 5-4, while Orlando didn’t get the chance to suit up for the team.

“The Town of Bancroft was extremely welcoming to our team last year and I felt I developed a ton as a hockey player,” Zeich said in a statement. “I feel staying with Bancroft will be an exciting step in furthering my junior career.”

Head coach Denny Dubblestyne says Zeich is a quick goalie with a high hockey IQ that will bring strong leadership to the squad next year.

Orlando has made Bancroft his home during the off-season and has been working and living in the area.

“David’s willingness to make the transition from forward to defence improved the team’s puck-moving ability and depth,” Rockhounds President Jamie Eastman added in a statement. “Speed and noticeable skating skills allow him to join the rush and play defensively responsible.”

More signings are expected from the team as they continue to bolster their roster for the upcoming MJHL season.
