Bancroft Fire Department reminds resident province’s total fire ban still active

Since April 3rd a provincially mandated total burn ban has been on for parts of Ontario.

“As a municipality, we don’t have any input as to when the provincial ban is lifted,” Deputy Fire Chief for the Bancroft Fire Department Matt Musclow says.

He explains that a general guideline to figuring out who falls under the provincial ban is to look north of Highway 7. Most – if not all – municipalities north of highway do fall under the province’s ban.

Musclow says that with Victoria Day long weekend soon upon us, residents need to be aware that no campfires, fireworks, or any other related burning is allowed. Musclow has explained to the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom in the past that anyone disobeying the burn ban can face a large fine.

He adds that there’s currently no timetable for the burn ban to be lifted by the province.
