COVID-19 outbreak over at Hastings Manor in Belleville

Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health has advised the City of Belleville that the Hastings Manor has been removed from the list of facilities with an active COVID-19 outbreak.

The outbreak was called on April 2nd.

“This is great news. It’s something we have been working so hard towards over these past 6 weeks and it is a testament to the incredible team members that we have at Hastings Manor. It has been hard on our residents and their families and it has been hard on our team members but together we have reached an important milestone,” said Hastings County Warden Rick Phillips.

“We commend the staff of Hastings Manor for their thorough response to the recent COVID-19 outbreak” says Physician with Public Health Dr. Alexa Caturay. “By implementing appropriate public health measures such as proactive testing of asymptomatic patients and outbreak management protocols, staff at the facility helped limit the spread of the virus.”

“It is important however to know that it will not be ‘business as usual’ at the Manor,” added Phillips. “Keeping our residents safe will still be our first priority. Today’s decision by Public Health does allow our senior leadership team to now actively begin planning on how we can re-introduce some forms of communal activities that supports our resident’s social needs while safeguarding their health.”
