First lab-confirmed COVID-19 case in over two weeks reported by Public Health

There are now eight active cases of COVID-19 in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

Before today, Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health last reported a new lab-confirmed case of the virus on May 1st. The new case is reported to have come due to community transmission.

There have been 43 cases of the virus since the pandemic began.

Two more people have recovered from the virus since Tuesday morning which brings the total to get better to 30. The amount of people that have died from the virus remains at five.

Despite a new active case being added, the two recoveries bring the total active amount to eight. That’s a drop of two since Tuesday. Public Health reports that between five to nine of the active cases are in North Hastings.

6,148 people have been tested – which accounts for 3.6-percent of the population in the two Counties – with 5,786 of them coming back negative. 319 tests are still pending.
