Maynooth Farmers’ Market will be open, but different this season

After plenty of conversations with a health inspector, the Maynooth Farmers’ Market will be open this season.

Chris Hass runs the market and says the health inspector has – after multiple conversations – straightened out what can and can’t be done this season. “She said it can only be food vendors or essential products,” Hass explains. “There can be no artwork, craft stuff or flea market stuff.”

The market will be held at a new location this year. It will be done on the front lawn of Memories Bakery and Tea Room.

11 vendors will be on-site when the market opens up Saturday, May 30th. They will all be kept six feet apart. Each vendor will have hand sanitizer on their table. The market will be open from 8 AM until 1 PM.

Haas says the health inspector did not tell her about limiting people but says she will not be letting more than 20 people browse at a time. She adds that only one-way traffic will be allowed. “She said we also have to watch to make sure people don’t congregate in bunches on five,” Hass continues.

Due to the on-going road work being done in downtown Maynooth, Hass says it will be difficult for people to find parking, but it is available. She adds that the workers have been helping people navigate around the work.

Hass says they – like the Bancroft Farmers’ Market – are doing a virtual market. The online version of the market will include all vendors that would normally take part in the Maynooth Farmers’ Market. The contact information for all the 19 participating vendors is available through Facebook.
