North Hastings and Hastings Highlands libraries to offer curbside pick-up

North Hastings Public Library will be able to offer curbside pick-up and Hastings Highlands Public Library will as well.

NHPL has had trouble kick-starting their service but after previous miscommunication with Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health, they are able to go forward with the service. It’s now underway and being done by appointment only. You’re being asked to call 613 332-3380 or email the library at [email protected] to place an order.

Before ordering, you can see what’s being offered by going to NHPL’s website.

HHPL’s curbside service will begin Tuesday, May 26th. They say a website is being worked on and will be up and running in time for the start date.

“Here’s how it will work,” the library says on their website. “You’ll place an order by phone or email, and we’ll grab the books off the shelf and package it. Staff will be sanitizing or washing their hands before touching or packaging any library materials, and all returns will be quarantined for 72 hours before going back into circulation.” A pick-up time will then be scheduled. A table will be set-up outside the library with all of the packaged materials. Before going into the library though, they say to make sure no one else is inside.

If you’re returning items, the library says to use the dropbox outside the building.

The pick-up schedule for HHPL will be between 11 AM and 2 PM on Monday, 3 PM to 6 on Tuesday and Thursday and 1 PM until 4 on Wednesday.

Once the website is up-and-running, more information will be made available about how the system will work.
