Blood clinic to be held in Bancroft

Canadian Blood Services will be holding a blood clinic in Bancroft on July 6th.

It will be happening from 12:30 PM until 6:30 at the Bancroft Pentecostal Tabernacle.

Blood Services says there are 26 appointments available, adding that walk-in appointments are not available. You can make an appointment by calling 1-888-236-6283, book online or download the GIVEBLOOD app.

A pre-screening questionnaire will have to be done by anyone who shows up for their appointment. Blood Services says that if you have tested positive for COVID-19, you’re ineligible to donate blood for 14 days after the positive test. They say this includes people who have developed symptoms of the virus after travelling outside of Canada, being in close contact with a person who has the virus or has exhibited symptoms. “People, other than asymptomatic health care workers and first responders using protective equipment, who have been exposed to the people described above are also temporarily ineligible to the donate,” Blood Services adds.

They say “enhanced wellness measures” are in effect at all blood clinics. All chairs in the waiting area are six feet apart, as far as the donor chairs. All equipment is wiped down after use or discarded. Blood Services also says that you must wear a facemask when inside a blood clinic.

“There are many reasons why you should consider donating blood, your donation will serve as a lifesaving product to fellow Canadians that require blood and blood products to maintain and live a healthy lifestyle,” Donor Relations for Blood Services Debbi Barfoot says.
