Total fire ban lifted by Wollaston Township

Wollaston Township is now under a daytime fire ban, joining the six other municipalities in North Hastings who have the same fire restrictions.

Wollaston remained under a total fire ban after the Province lifted its total fire ban on May 15th. The six other municipalities in North Hastings issued daytime burn bans – which they all remain in as of Monday afternoon.

“Only small burns are permitted – no more than two feet wide by two feet high and no brush burning is permitted at this time,” the Township says on their Facebook page. This is on top of no open-air burning being allowed between 7 AM and 7 PM.

“The staff and Council of Wollaston Township remind all stakeholders and visitors to the community that our Fire Department is made-up of dedicated volunteers who respond to both fire and medical calls,” the Township adds. “Especially during this time, we ask for respect and kindness to be shown to our volunteers.”
