Town of Bancroft following province’s lead in re-opening local facilities

The Town of Bancroft is working on being able to re-open more facilities.

“Next on our radar is our public washrooms,” Mayor of Bancroft Paul Jenkins tells the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom.

Jenkins says the hold-up in opening up public washrooms is because there was no hot water at the facilities. He says hot water tanks have been ordered and he hopes to see them installed this week. When that happens, the public washrooms as Millennium and Riverside park will re-open. Jenkins adds Riverside is also undergoing renovations after it was vandalized.

The Freedom Skatepark, Off-leash Dog Park and L’Amable Dam Boat Launch were re-opened last week along with Millennium and Riverside Parks. The parks are only open for walking.

The Town announced last Friday that those facilities would be re-opening. He says he kept on eye on those areas over the weekend and noticed that people were obeying the guidelines that were set.

“We’re following the provincial guidelines,” he adds. Jenkins says the Town is keeping an eye on what the province is saying and what will be opening next and will follow their lead. He adds that Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health also has a say in how things re-open. Jenkins points out that guidelines will need to be set to ensure that whatever is re-opening does so safely. “We still need to adhere to physical distancing requirements,” the Mayor warns.
