Public Health urges cauction as province continues to re-open

On Friday some areas of Ontario will enter into the second phase of the provincial government’s re-opening plan, but Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health is precautions must continue.

Along with Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health, 23 other regions will be re-opening under phase two of the government’s plan. On top of some businesses being allowed to re-open, social gatherings will now be allowed in groups of up to 10.

“As additional services and facilities reopen in our region, it is incredibly important that residents and visitors continue to follow precautions to keep us all healthy and safe,” says Acting Medical Officer of Health for Public Health Dr. Alexa Caturay. “As more people are out and about, the best ways to stop the spread of COVID-19 are to stay home if ill, keep at least two metres away from others, wear a face covering when this is not possible, wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, and avoid touching your face.”

Public Health also recommends that any businesses re-opening Friday have a “comprehensive plan” in place to protect staff and customers. The health unit has resources to help with making the plan available on its website.
