A traffic stop led to a stolen vehicle being recovered by Bancroft OPP.
Shortly after 3 PM on June 12th, officers were involved in a traffic stop on Cleak Street in Bancroft. A report from the police says the men in the car fled on foot. Police say another vehicle approached the scene soon after and failed to stop for officers and left the scene.
Another cruiser was brought in to block off Hastings Street North. The fleeing vehicle collided with the cruiser before the two occupants fled on foot. They were apprehended and taken into custody along with two other people that were in the car.
After an investigation, it was found that the car had been reported stolen earlier from the Toronto area.
As a result, a 36-year-old man from Oshawa has been charged with dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime, fail to comply with a probation order, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
A 38-year-old from Mariposa Township has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply with release order.
A 28-year-old from Ajax has been charged with failure to comply with a release order.
A fourth person was held but released without being charged.
Three individuals that were charged are due in court in Belleville later this month.
