Ontario to remain under state of emergency until mid-July

Ontario will continue to be under a state of emergency until July 15th.

Premier Doug Ford says he hopes this will be the last time the emergency declaration will need to be extended, “As we gradually and safely reopen our economy, our frontline care providers can continue to rely on these emergency orders to better protect our seniors and most vulnerable citizens and provide the flexibility to put resources where they’re needed most. We are hopeful that another extension of the Declaration of Emergency will not be needed as we see improvements in the public health trends and as people and businesses continue to act responsibly and adapt to the new environment.”

The motion passed in the legislature this morning.

The emergency orders under the state of emergency including the ban on large gatherings are expected to continue after July 15th, but past that date, the province will not be able to make any new emergency orders or re-enact old ones once they have expired but they can extend existing ones.
