Faraday Fire Department battles fire at Paudash Laundromat

The Faraday Fire Department called in the Highlands East Fire Department to help battle a fire that started at the Paudash Laundromat Monday.

Faraday Township’s Fire Chief Brian Sears says they got the call around 8 AM to attend the scene on Paudash Lake Road and were able to extinguish the blaze by 3 PM. “When we arrived the building was pretty well fully engulfed,” he says.

“I would say it’s a teardown,” he says of the building that also has two apartments upstairs and one downstairs. “They pretty well lost everything.”

The Highlands East Fire Department supplied seven firefighters, while 10 from the Faraday department were on-hand to put the fire out.

Sears says a cat was lost in the fire, but no other injuries have been reported. He adds that the tenant in the downstairs apartment was sleeping when the fire began, but was woken up and got out safely.
