Provincial government now accepting applications for Seniors Community Grant

Ontario’s government has announced they have opened up the application process for the Seniors Community Grant.

The grant gives successful applicants between $1,000 and $100,000 to projects that support seniors. “It’s important to try and find ways to energize and engage and give seniors the opportunity to have extra circular activities,” MPP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington Daryl Kramp says. “It’s important for them to be able to enjoy the community in a way that’s safe and accessible.”

This year, the provincial government updated the grant to focus more on supporting projects that allow seniors to stay connected with the community while still at home. The government says they are looking for projects that: help seniors receive the support they need from the community, reducing demand on acute and long-term care, ensure they’re less at-risk for neglect, abuse and fraud, and that their rights and dignity are protected, ensure they are more connected, and provide them with opportunities for employment and volunteering.

The application process closes on August 7th. More information on how to apply is available through the government of Ontario’s website.
