Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health announces masks to be mandatory starting July 10th

Starting on Friday, residents in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties will be mandated to wear masks, after a ruling from Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health.

HPEPH strongly recommends that individuals wear face coverings in public situations where physical distancing may not be possible,” Public Health says in a statement. “To further support local communities, HPEPH continues to engage in productive discussions with local municipal leaders to identify and respond to community needs.”

Public Health says they will work in “good faith” with municipalities and businesses to enforce the new requirements.

Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Alexa Caturay issued a letter to businesses stating that businesses must have a proper policy in place by noon on Friday.

Public Health is reporting there are zero active lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 between Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
