North Hastings Children’s Services holding “Drive Thru Youth Centre”

With many youth preparing to head back to school in September, North Hastings Children’s Services want to ensure they are prepared for what will be a very different learning experience.

From 11 AM until 1 PM on Wednesday, members of Children’s Services will be on-hand at Club 580 beside Millenium Park handing out free freezies, masks, and providing information on what to expect when kids go back to school on September 3rd.

“We want to see the youth and families to help educate them,” Youth and Family Support Manager Sarah Phoenix explains. She adds that they want to make sure when youth do go back to school, they are prepared.

“Our youth mentors have created hats made out of pool noodles and face shields to show people you can’t really be as close as we used to be,” Pheonix says. The team at North Hastings Children’s Services also has a few other fun guys of teaching kids about the pandemic, which will be on display Wednesday at Club 580. “Providing simply visuals helps children in their development,” Phoenix says. “They love to see things and have fun with things.”

If you are going to the Drive Thru Youth Centre, NHCS asks that you don’t leave your car when you arrive. All materials will be brought to you once you pull in.
