Bancroft town council met Tuesday and John O’Donnell, acting chief of Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services, was there to give an update.
He says there were roughly 29,000 calls last year, 3,980 of them here in Bancroft if you count standbys. He adds that the paramedics were actively involved in the 2013 flood in Bancroft and the 2014 flood north of Belleville.
As far as new projects go, he says he’s working on a possible collaboration with Renfrew County on new drone program to get defibrillators to patients in an emergency. He adds that a new para-medicine program is also in the works, to treat patients at home and hopefully decrease emergency room visits.
