Foodbank teaming up with No Frills for weekend food drive

This weekend North Hastings Community Cupboard will be on-site at No Frills in Bancroft for a food drive.

“We need all kinds of food,” Communications Director for the foodbank Monica Piercey tells the MyBancroftNow.com newsroom. She says a wishlist will be at No Frills for people to look over. “We always make suggestions to make sure we’re not getting too much of one thing and not enough of another,” Piercey says. If you want to drop off eggs or meat, you can. Piercey says they will have a cooler on-site so it won’t go bad.

Co-owner of No Frills Tony McLaughlin says the foodbank reached out recently to see what can do done to help them stockpile supplies. “They want to be stockpiled for what could be a very busy fall,” he explains. Since the foodbank and No Frills work together often, McLaughlin says partnering for the food drive was an easy connection. “It’s a huge need right now,” he says.

Piercey says they are also in need of cash donations. “We can do charitable tax receipts for that,” she adds.

The food drive will be done on the sidewalk in front of No Frills on Friday, August 28th and on the 29th from 10 AM until 2 PM.
