Despite Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health saying the COVID-19 activity level remains low in the region, four new lab-confirmed cases were added over the long weekend.
Two cases were reported on September 4th, another one on the 5th and the final one was added on the 8th. Three were due to travel, one was from close contact with someone who has already contracted the virus and the latest case is still pending.
This means Public Health is now reporting five active cases of the virus in the region.
This brings the total amount of positive cases reported between Hastings and Prince Edward Counties to 53. Nine of those cases have come in the past two months. Of those cases, 43 people have recovered and five have died.
Public Health is approaching 25,000 swabs with the current total sitting at 24,827 done so far.
