Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookie campaign beginning Monday

Tim Hortons’ annual Smile Cookie campaign kicks off Monday, with all proceeds from the two local chains going to the North Hastings District Hospital Auxiliary.

“It’s a big campaign for us,” says Michaels Brooks with the auxiliary.

From Monday through to Sunday, September 20th you will be able to buy a cookie for $1 at either Tim Hortons location in Bancroft. “We’ll have volunteers out at each store,” Brooks says.

He goes on to say that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the auxiliary has not been able to fundraise at full force this year. Their major fundraising effort every year is the radiothon done with Moose FM, which was cancelled this year.

This year the auxiliary is fundraising to buy a Glidescope handle for the hospital. The device as an interior camera and a video monitor. It helps medical professionals do gentle intubation. Brooks says they are also looking to buy three IV Infusion Pumps. “This pumps liquids and medication into patients,” he explains. Another item on their wishlist is a new patient lift. “The hospital critically needs this,” he says. On top of that, they’re also looking to buy general personal protective equipment for hospital staff.
