OPP Lays Nearly 5000 Speeding Charges Over The Long Weekend

The Thanksgiving long weekend was one full of arrests, according to OPP.
All OPP Regions conducted over 6200 traffic charges over the long weekend. The vast majority, 4700, were speeding charges. 159 of these were stunt driving charges, where drivers are operating over 50 kilometres an hour over the speed limit. 104 people were charged with distracted driving and 92 were brought up on impaired driving charges. 144 were charges for not wearing a seatbelt.
OPP also responded to four fatal collisions over the long weekend, resulting in the deaths of five people.
