Warden Rick Phillips Sworn In for Sixth Term

Hastings County has sworn in Rick Phillips for his sixth term as Warden.

The Reeve of Tyendinaga said he is committed to strong guidance and dedicated leadership, but warned of the long road ahead. He also paid tribute to front-line works, manor workers, as well as the businesses and residents for who he says he provides service.

During his acceptance speech, Phillips outlined his priorities for 2021. This included building a new Ambulance Base in Central Hastings, improving care at Centennial and Hastings manor, and building 18  affordable housing units in Bancroft. He also plans to develop a five-year-plan of shovel-ready affordable housing projects that will be ready to go once federal and provincial funding is made available. Phillips also will work with the Eastern Ontario Regional Network to push federal and provincial to begin what he calls a massive and essential project.
