Funding announced for local Generations Intergenerational program

A government program has granted funding to an initiative that’s connecting pre-school children with seniors in our community.

The Generations Intergenerational program through North Hastings Children’s Services has received $10,671 through the government’s New Horizons for Seniors program.  The money will be used to buy supplies like toys, costumes and instruments that seniors can continue to use when offering mentorship to children in the program.

NHCS Executive Director Jessica Anderson says the program’s about letting both age groups learn from each other.  Prince Edward-Hastings MP Daryl Kramp says initiatives like this are important so seniors can continue to be active in their communities.
