With long term care homes ramping up vaccinations for COVID-19, HAstings prince Edward Public health says they are on track to innoculate all residents by the February 5th provincial deadline.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Piotr Ogalza says vaccine distribution is an evolving situation. He says that there are concerns with the worldwide shortages, but he has pledged to make the vaccinations happen. He says that vaccines are one of the most amazing inventions in medicine, and says the vaccines make the health care workers positive about their job across HPE.
He says more information about new phases and deadlines will become available after long to care residents have gotten their shots. He says Phase 2 of the vaccine rollout should start later in the spring. The Unit will be working with the government to move on to additional priority groups.
He also thanks the public for the sacrifices and hard work they have made to get to this point, and urges people to not lower their guard.
